ABOUT

The Residency for International Creators with Exploratory Projects invites outstanding young creators (media art, video, game, animation, manga, etc.) from overseas, providing them with a residency opportunity in Tokyo to engage with the creative culture of Japan, and encouraging international exchange by arranging opportuni- ties to interact with creators in Japan.
This year, there were 67 applications from 38 countries / regions during the recruitment period from August 29 to September 30, 2019.

OUTLINE OF THE PROJECT

Research and creation of a new work

the participants will conduct research and create a new work during the residency and give a pres- entation of their work at the end of their stay, ei- ther as a completed work or as a work-in-progress.

Study and training

the participants will make visits to educational institutions, research facilities, studios, and com- municate with Japanese artists and experts.

Discussions with an expert

the participants will meet Japanese creators and experts in media arts regularly to discuss their works.

WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS

Travel expenses

round-trip airline ticket from the country of residence to Tokyo.

Living allowance

including travel expenses for research and creation inside Japan

Travel insurance

Housing in Tokyo Residence

*Residents are responsible for the production expenses.
