概略

破壊によって失われた14世紀から16世紀の間のアステカ帝国の首都「テノティトラン」に根付いていた文化における表現の可能性を引き出し、暴力と破壊に代表されるメキシコ国内の社会的矛盾とその歴史をマンガ作品として制作する。日本での滞在制作を通してメキシコのマンガ表現に自身のもうひとつのルーツである日本のマンガ表現を取り込み新たな可能性を探る。

The artist will create a manga style work that depicts the history and inconsistencies of society surround the violence and catastrophe of Mexico, bringing out the creative possibilities through the Aztec culture that existed in Tenochtitlán, which was the capital of the empire during the 14th through 16th centuries before it was lost to destruction. During his residency, Cacho will incorporate Japanese manga styles, from which his practice is derived, and explore new possibilities in the genre through expressing his Mexican roots.

1987年、メキシコ生まれ。画家、マンガ家。エスメラルダ絵画学校を卒業後、2011年より自費出版でマンガ作品を発表している。 2014年、アングレーム(フランス)のレジデンスプログラムに参加。自身の出身国であるメキシコ国内における暴力と破壊の 歴史に基づいた作品を制作している。

Born in Mexico, 1987. Painter, comic artist. Since 2011, after graduating from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving La Esmeralda, he has been self-publishing his comic works. In November 2014 he participated in an artist residence in La Maison des Auteurs in Angouleme, France. His works are based on the history of violence and catastrophe seen in his native country, Mexico.
